The second work party of the summer at Growing Community Garden will be held on Canada Day from 9 a.m. on.
The task agenda for the garden, located at 1905 Willow St. beside the KIA and Northland Dodge dealerships, is to build a large and some smaller planters, lay cardboard to be covered with mulch as a central path, lay down logs to edge the path, fill planters with soil and plant perennials around the sign and in the planters.
Becca Bruser, garden co-ordinator, requests participants to bring shovels, rakes and tools to cut sod, and bring a garden lunch or make a salad on site from lettuce in the planters.
To date, the garden boasts 14 planters in use by community groups, committee members and a UNBC research group. If you can participate, let Bruser know by e-mail at: [email protected] or [email protected].
