A town hall meeting tonight will blue-sky some ideas about future green jobs for Prince George.
The provincial organization GreenJobsBC is hosting the public discussion, calling on labour groups, environmental groups and others involved in job-building to come share past experiences and ponder the future out loud as a group.
The discussion will be led by GreenJobsBC co-chair Darryl Walker and the group's coordinator Jonathan Kassian.
"B.C. needs bold and purposeful policy and action to build an economy that creates sustainable
livelihoods for British Columbians while dealing with climate change," said Walker. "We are encouraged by the many initiatives across BC that are creating green jobs while lowering greenhouse gas emissions."
Fellow co-chair Lisa Matthaus said, "Creating green jobs is a very real option for B.C., but we need to hear from communities about how to work together to achieve this. These conversations will contribute to a vision for a green economy that includes all of B.C., from cities to resource communities."
Kassian added, "Ensuring long-term prosperity and a healthy environment for BC means coming together to embrace solutions for the future, which look different for every community."
The event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight in the Nechako Room at the Coast Inn of the North, 770 Brunswick Street.
