Governor General's Award recipients in nation's capital

Three Prince George Governor General's Award recipients are in Ottawa this week.

On Wednesday, D.P. Todd Secondary School teacher Glen Thielmann, Lheidli T'enneh Chief Dominic Frederick and The Exploration Place CEO Tracy Calogheros, will be honoured at Rideau Hall.

Thielmann will receive the Governor General's Award for Excellence in Teaching and Frederick and Calogheros will receive the award for Excellence in Community Programming.

The Excellence in Teaching award recognizes exemplary teachers or teams of teachers who are "leaders" in the classroom. The Excellence in Community Programming award recognizes unique local and community history projects.

Cariboo-Prince George MP Todd Doherty welcomed them to Parliament Hill on Tuesday.

"I could not be more pleased," Doherty said in a media release. "It was an honour to spend time

with our recipients and I look forward to attending the ceremony this Wednesday."
