The men and women empowered to carry badges are now also empowered to hand out badges of honour to youth caught in the act - of doing good.

RCMP officers are carrying bundles of TRST cards (Trust Cards) which stand for The Right Stuff. Each card has a coupon for either a free Big Mac or a free youth drop-in visit to The Family Y. Police members will be giving them out to young people when a cop nails them doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing: riding a bike and properly wearing a helmet, being helpful to an elder, putting litter in the garbage, having a good time in groups while being respectful to those around them, etc.

"Young people in Prince George are doing the right thing all the time," said Prince George RCMP Const. Carissa Hornoi, in charge of Prince George Community Policing. "Oftentimes police are responding to calls for service dealing with youth who are not having a positive day, necessarily, so this responds to the many youth who do do the right thing."
