If you want to do something fun this Halloween but aren’t sure what to do, look no further!

Besides the classic trick-or-treating, there are lots of things to do in Prince George. Whether you want to take the kids out or have a great costume idea and need an excuse to wear it, there’s something for everyone.

Here’s a round-up of Halloween events in the city:

Halloween Spooktacular at the Huble Homestead

Make sure you wear a costume that’s warm enough when you head out to the Huble Homestead for the Halloween Spooktacular. Check out the welcome barn for pumpkin carving, costume contests and crafts, or head into the animal barn for magic shows with William the Conjurer, or visit the fortune teller’s cabin to find out what the future holds. For those preferring a ghostlier experience, a spooky maze and graveyard ghouls await you in the dark; there’s a House of Horrors, with guided tours available for an extra charge but the goosebumps are for free. All other activities are included with a family admission. The Halloween Spooktacular takes place Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 from 3 to 8 p.m. Huble Homestead Historic Site is a 30-minute drive north of Prince George. To get there, make your way up Highway 97, before turning off on Mitchell Road to continue another six kilometres down a well-maintained dirt road.

Third annual haunted maze

Get lost in a haunted maze this Halloween. Prince George's haunted maze is back for another year. The maze is set up in the 4-H barn at the CN Centre Fairgrounds and admission is by donation with monetary donations going toward PG Search and Rescue and food donations going to St. Vincent de Paul. Show times vary depending on different levels of scare. There will be no child-friendly levels of scare on Friday or Saturday, but bring the kids out on Sundays for some child-friendly fun! Here’s the full schedule:

  • Child-friendly Sundays: Oct. 21, 28: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Intermediate scare: Oct. 19, 20, 26, 27: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Advanced scare: Oct. 19, 20, 26, 27: 7:45 to 11 p.m., and Oct. 31 from 7 to 10:30 p.m.

Return of the Living Dome

If you want to dance this Halloween and are over 19, get dressed up and check out The Return of the Living Dome. The event will see 900 people at the Roll-A-Dome, dancing to a live set from DJ Rex from Vancouver and local DJ Darkness. Return of the Living Dome takes place Saturday, Oct. 27; tickets cost $20 and are on sale at the UNBC Winter Garden, District Clothing Co., and the CNC main lobby.

Sonar Comedy and Night Club Presents Halloween Party

Sonar Comedy and Night Club is throwing the wildest Halloween Party of the year. There will be a $500 cash prize for the best costume of the night and drink specials all night long. Doors open at 10 p.m. and tickets cost $15 dollars in advance and $20 at the door.

Children of the Wave Halloween Album Release Party

Prince George's only surf-rock tribute to Black Sabbath is throwing a Halloween Party and album release along with local band CRONES! The party takes place at the Royal Canadian Legion and costumes and dancing are more than encouraged. Children of the Wave is comprised of local musicians Naomi Kavka, Danny Bell, Britt Meirhoffer and Nathan Kelly. There will be a $10 cover charge and the doors will open at 8 p.m. The show starts at 9 p.m.

Night of the Ghosts

Another family-friendly Halloween event is the Night of the Ghosts. Teams will have to search for ghosts and poltergeists haunting Rainbow Park while avoiding zombies. The more ghosts teams find, the more chances they have to be entered into a draw to win prizes. Everyone is able to join the event as either a ghost hunter or a ghost hider. The event begins at 6 p.m. and takes place from Oct. 27 to 30. The event will also include vendor booths, hot chocolate and treats. It cost $7 per team or family to play the game.

Menagerie: Adrift in Space

Menagerie: Adrift in Space is the eighth incarnation of an annual Halloween fundraising event hosted by Two Rivers Gallery. More than a costume party for adults, the event will feature live entertainment, games, a silent auction and prizes to be won. Appetizers, as well as cocktails, wine, and crossroads Brewing beer, will be on hand throughout the evening. Proceeds from the event help support many of the gallery’s services, including programs like Art Heals, the Hospital outreach programs, the MakerLab, and programs for children throughout School District 57. Ticket are $65. The event takes place Saturday, Oct. 27 at Two Rivers Gallery, at 725 Canada Games Way.
