The City of Prince George is hoping to get residents more engaged in their local neighborhoods.

Council will be meeting with residents on a neighbourhood level to talk about city projects and priorities, and get community feedback. The information gathered will be used to create the city's neighbourhood engagement plan.

"Building stronger neighbourhoods was identified as a core focus area in council's strategic plan, and through myPG, we are finding new ways to engage neighbourhoods," Mayor Dan Rogers said in a written statement. "It is part of a deliberate effort to build a stronger city through neighbourhood empowerment which is an emerging strategy being used by local governments across North America including the likes of Vancouver, Edmonton, Seattle and Portland."

The first session will be in the Hart area on June 14, starting at 7 p.m. at Heather Park Elementary school. Other sessions are scheduled at Blackburn Community Hall on June 15 starting at 6 p.m. and Van Bien Training Centre on June 16 starting a 7 p.m.

Feedback from the sessions will be posted online at mypg.ca and social

media sites to allow for comments.

Additional sessions will be scheduled for other neighbourhoods.
