Geocaching is like a live outdoorsy treasure hunt, but with an online presence as well.
The Central B.C. Railway and Forestry Museum is holding an introductory course to geocaching
that's suitable for the whole family Sunday, June 9 from 1 to 3 p.m.
The workshop will be held by an experienced local geocacher, Andrew Toms, who will cover the basics, including etiquette and how to open some of the tricky containers once you've found them.Participants can then put their new-found skills to the test by hunting for some treasure on museum grounds using a handheld or cellphone-based GPS.
According to www.geocaching.com, there are 2,092,036 active geocaches and more than five million geocachers worldwide.
Regular museum admission applies and members are free. Family (two adults and three children) is $18, adults are $6, students and seniors are $5, children three to 12 are $3 and children under three are free.
Space is limited. To pre-register, contact Erin at 250-563-7351 or e-mail [email protected].
