Owners of a certain brand of pickup truck might want to keep a close eye on their fuel gauges.

Since Dec. 19, police have received 11 reports gas being stolen from Ford F-150s, Prince George RCMP said Friday. The pickups' fuel tanks were drained after holes were drilled into them.

What's more, there have been eight reports of equipment being stolen from other vehicles, like LED light bars, Tidy tanks full of diesel, and tires and rims.

Most of the thefts are done in the dark in driveways or unsecured parking lots and hardest hit is the Hart and College Heights.

The value of the damaged property and stolen items is more than $20,000.

Police are asking the public who have Ford F-150 trucks and after market equipment on their vehicles to take precautions. Secure vehicles, keep them in a well lit area, use surveillance cameras and report all suspicious activity

Anyone who has information on the incidents is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca or Text-a-Tip to 274637 using keyword "pgtips".
