The report scheduled to follow the gang-crime summit is almost complete and is expected to be finished early in the new year.
The first part of the document, the compilation of a community input session facilitated by UNBC professor Dr. Theresa Healy, was handed in to the City of Prince George this week.
"I have Dr. Healy's piece, and we're going to roll some other information into that, and we will slate it for the first council meeting in January," said Rob Whitwham, manager of Public Safety & Civic Facilities. "Her stuff speaks specifically to the public sessions, but there was obviously a lot more than that, we were interested in the observations that came out of the other sessions, too, and how they apply to our situation."
How the information is unveiled for the public is still to be determined. The Citizen was the founding partner of the summit, which was later joined by the City of Prince George, the RCMP, and other private sector supporters.
Whitwham's position was the city, through the Community Policing department, was the organizer of the event and therefore the creation of the report fell to them. That work was almost but not quite finished.
The report is expected to contain a number of recommendations and suggestions for public action to combat the gang crime taking hold in the Prince George region.
