Prince George and area organizations are once again benefiting from gaming grant funds.
Ten public safety and human and social services groups are splitting the most recent payout of more than half a million dollars from the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development. Province-wide, more than $4.6 million was doled out to 127 recipients from B.C. gaming revenues.
"Gaming grants make a big difference for a wide variety of organizations, all of which make a major contribution to our communities," said Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Pat Bell.
These groups are:
Mackenzie Search and Rescue Society - $90,000
Prince George Search and Rescue Society - $ 65,000
Fort George Highway Rescue Society - $47,000
Prince George Crime Stoppers Association - $8,000
Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Prince George - $92,800
Active Support Against Poverty Society - $71,000
Elder Citizens Recreation Association - $71,000
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43 Ladies Auxiliary - $32,600
College Heights Community Association - $25,000
787 Banshee Air Cadet sponsoring committee - $2,200
