There's a practical legacy project coming to venues of the 2015 Winter Games from a $35,000 Direct Access Gaming Grant received by the Recycling and Environmental Action Planning Society (REAPS).
There will be 15 Elkay water bottle refilling stations and two portable table top water stations put in place at winter games venues, including Purden Ski Village, Tabor Lake Ski Resort, Civic Centre, CN Centre, The Prince George Public Library, Tourism PG , Northern Sport Centre, College of New Caledonia, Elkcentre, Kin II, PG Golf and Curling Club and the Coliseum.
Each station features an automated water bottle refill system, a counter that records each time a bottle is refilled and a regular water fountain tap.
The water refill stations make it fast and easy to refill almost any water bottle.
Trying to get one-time use water bottles out of the mainstream, these stations encourage people to use their own water bottles.
