Fundraising walks and runs this weekend

Two fundraising events are set for this weekend. Organized in partnership with Positive Living North, the Scotiabank Walk for AIDS is set for today at the Canada Games Plaza. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. and the walk along a 1.

On Saturday residents are invited to participate in the 2017 Scotiabank AIDS Walk. Henry Morgan the 2017 Walk Champion has participated in the walk for seven years. He has worked with people living with HIV/AIDS through Positive Living North, has provided addiction counseling services to community members and has been apart of various outreach programs. The walk will take place at the Canada Games Plaza at 11 a.m. Those who haven’t registered yet can do so at 10:30 a.m. before the walk. The event, hosted by Positive Living North, has been taking place for over 20 years.

Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. and the walk along a 1.5-kilometre route through the downtown starts at

11:15 a.m.

Donations can be made at www.positivelivingnorth.org through CanadaHelps or at scotiabankaidswalk.ca.

On Sunday, the Terry Fox Run will be held at Community Foundation Park, next to Four Seasons Pool.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk and run, which follows a five-kilometre route around Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park goes from 10 a.m. to noon.

Funds raised to towards the Terry Fox Foundation and cancer research.
