The Prince George branch of the Alzheimer Society of B.C. will begin its annual fundraising drive on Saturday in honour of World Alzheimer Day.

The local A Penny For Your Thoughts team will set up booths outside the Signature Liquor Store at Pine Centre Mall, Northern Hardware, Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire to accept donations in advance of the 2014 Investors Group Walk for Memories.

Alzheimer's Society support and education co-ordinator Leanne Jones said the walk is the most important fundraiser for the agency every year, bringing in $700,000 province-wide.

The walk will take place Jan. 26 at CN Centre.

In addition to collecting funds, volunteers will also be handing out information about the disease in order to raise awareness about the people living with dementia in the region.
