The Fraser Basin Council has begun gathering input in its three-phase consultation on the human health impacts of oil and gas development in northeastern B.C.
On Jan. 3 the B.C. Ministry of Health announced it was contracting the Fraser Basin Council to conduct an assessment on health impacts of oil and gas development in B.C. The process is expected to put a spotlight on the controversial practice of hydraulic fracturing, also known as fracking.
Phase one will be a public and stakeholder consultation process, followed by a scientific review in phase two. Phase three will be the preparation of a report to the Ministry of Health and the public on the issue.
Members of the public are welcome to provide feedback on their concerns to the Fraser Basin Council online at www.hhra.ca, by e-mailing [email protected] or calling 1-855-664-4472. Submissions can also be mailed c/o Fraser Basin Council, 1st Floor, 470 Granville St., Vancouver, B.C. V6C 1V5.
All submissions must be received by the Fraser Basin Council no later than March 7.
The Fraser Basin Council will also be scheduling in-person meetings with regional stakeholders. Requests for in-person meetings can be made by the same contact methods.
