Four hurt in highway crash

Four people were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 near Quesnel.

According to police, a Dodge van travelling northbound on the highway failed to yield to oncoming traffic while trying to make a left-hand turn onto Spears Road in the Two Mile Flats area around 4 p.m. The van was hit by a southbound pickup truck, sending both vehicles into the ditch.

Three occupants of the van were sent to G.R. Baker Hospital in Quesnel with injuries ranging from broken bones to lacerations. The driver of the pickup truck was also taken to hospital with a suspected case of whiplash.

RCMP are continuing to investigate the incident.
