Mounties in Prince George are investigating a break and enter that saw a gun safe stolen with multiple firearms inside.
Cpl. Craig Douglass says yesterday afternoon (Oct. 1), police received a report of a residential break and enter at a home on Summit Street, near the intersection of Ospika Boulevard and Rainbow Drive.
He says sometime during the course of the day, one or possibly more suspects forced their way into the home and took a large gun safe that was secured to the wall.
It's believed the residence was located specifically to steal the firearms.
Three handguns and one long gun were in the safe at the time they were taken with Douglass adding the suspects were likely inside the home for a considerable amount of time while they worked on removing the safe.
"Guns were clearly targeted in this break and enter," Douglass said. "Every gun owner should take all precautions to secure their firearms and should refrain from discussing locations and details of their guns with others."
