Former city planner dies

Prince George has lost one of its prominent pioneer architects and city planners. Desmond John Parker died May 3 following a lengthy illness at Parkside Care Home where he resided. He was 79. A memorial service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at St.

Desmond John Parker died May 3 following a lengthy illness at Parkside Care Home where he resided. He was 79.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Michael's and All Angels Church.

Born in Australia, Mr. Parker came to Prince George in 1957 where he practiced architecture for 50 years.

Every day Prince George residents are in the presence of Mr. Parker's work designed during his long term as the city planner. Full story in The Citizen.
