Building the aboriginal workforce of today and tomorrow is cause for celebration, and strategic discussions.

The Prince George Nechako Aboriginal Employment and Training Association (PGNAETA) is holding their annual Spirit of Unity Workforce Forum today and Friday, to recap the successes of the past and the indications for the immediate future.

"The purpose of [the two-day event] is to acknowledge the support and vision of our leaders, community, and industry partners who continue to work together in advancing a skilled aboriginal labour force," said a PGNAETA statement. "This event is inclusive of all 17 First Nations in the northern interior of British Columbia."

The event will bring together First Nations chiefs, other aboriginal leaders, industry leaders, local government personnel, post-secondary officials, and other stakeholders from the local area and the provincial stage.

According to PGNAETA, the event's main goal is promote future partnerships and provide all sides in the aboriginal skills development sphere to discuss the accomplishments and obstacles in their shared pursuit of economic development for all.

That two-day daytime forum, with a gala dinner tonight, takes place at the Ramada Hotel. Anyone interested in attending is asked to contact PGNAETA or visit the event for further details.
