Five Prince George restaurants have moderate hazard ratings

That's an improvement from last month when there were two high ratings and seven moderate.

There are five Prince George restaurants with moderate hazard ratings from Northern Health as of Tuesday.

That's an improvement from last month when there were two high ratings and seven moderate.

The Courtyard by Marriott still has a moderate rating from the Jan. 24 inspection that includes critical concerns about food not cooled properly, critical concerns about utensils not being sanitized properly and critical concerns about there not being employee hand sanitizing stations.

Famous Wok has had moderate or high ratings during the last six inspections. The latest inspection found a moderate rating on March 28 with violations including critical repeat offences from their last high rating inspection where hot potentially hazardous food was stored improperly which can lead to food borne illness.

Little Caesars has consistently had moderate ratings during the last five inspections, the latest on March 23. The last inspection found a critical repeat for cold food potentially stored in a hazardous way that could result in food borne illness. Repeat of premises not free of pests, namely mice and food not protected from contamination where utensils are used for ongoing use without proper sanitization.

Purden Ski Village has a moderate rating from the inspection on March 24, which discovered cold food potentially stored in a hazardous way which can lead to bacterial growth possibly resulting in food borne illness. Food not protected from contamination where cleaning chemicals were stored above dry foods and evidence of mice droppings.

White Spot has a moderate rating from their last inspection dated Feb. 8 for repeat conditions from the Feb. 6 inspection of high that a gap in the back door could let mice and other pests in, food is left open which attracts mice and pests. Repeat for premises not maintained in a sanitary condition, and repeat for premises not maintained properly.

The two local restaurants that had high hazard ratings last month - Nelly's Pub and Pizza and the Hart location of the Salted Cracker - are now at low after follow-up inspections.
