Mounties in Prince George have taken the first enforcement action under the Cannabis Act in the city.

This past Friday (Feb. 1), members from the Prince George RCMP Street Crew Unit executed a warrant at a home on Village Avenue as part of a cannabis investigation.

Police say five people were at the home and located several pounds of dried cannabis, many pre-packaged bags of other cannabis products, cash, and trafficking paraphernalia.

The five individuals were released without charges at this time pending further investigation and approval of charges from the Federal Prosecution Service of Canada.

Besides violation tickets, this is the first enforcement action taken in B.C.'s northern capital under the Cannabis Act.

If you have any information about illegal cannabis trafficking in Prince George, you are asked to call the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300.
