Two men are scheduled to appear in court in the next two weeks as part of a firearms investigation.

The suspects, both from Prince George and one well-known to police, were arrested after attempting to flee on foot while the RCMP Street Crew unit conducted a theft-from-motor vehicle investigation on the 1400 block, Carney St. around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning (Sept. 25).

Once police caught the suspects, one of the men was found with an empty gun holster concealed beneath his clothing, while the other was possessing another person's identification.

A loaded gun was later found by Police Dog Services close to where RCMP arrested the individuals and was determined to be stolen property.

Julien Lazarre, 21 years old, has been approved of the following charges by the B.C. Prosecution Service:

  • Possession of a firearm knowing the possession unauthorized
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited/restricted firearm
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Meanwhile, 31-year-old Devin Olson was charged with obstructing a peace officer and identity theft and has been released on bail.

Both Lazarre will appear in Prince George court on Wednesday, Oct. 2, while Olson will appear a week later on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
