Don't panic if you see black smoke rising from the Prince George Airport.

It's just a sign that training on dealing with aviation-related structural fires is being held.

Training is scheduled to start today, 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and will continue at the same time on Friday and next Tuesday, airport spokeswoman Lindsay Cotter said.

And from Sept. 10 to Sept. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Husky employees will be using using the airport's training facility where the airport's emergency response crew will be training them on Class B fires.

"These fires may produce dark smoke in and around the airport area which has in the past caused concern from local residents resulting in increased call volumes to your agencies," Cotter said.

"These fires are held in self-contained training facilities under controlled circumstances and pose no threat to the public or surrounding areas."

The training will be postponed if there is a lightning storm in the area.
