A fire at a home in the Moore's Meadow area early Monday morning left a person with serious burns, Prince George Fire Rescue said.

Called at about 2:15 a.m. to the scene in the 4600 block of Freimuller Avenue, firefighters found a two-storey house with heavy smoke and flames coming from the main floor at the front.

One occupant from an upstairs suite was waiting at the edge of the street while a second occupant, found outside at the back of the house, suffered burns and was rushed to hospital by ambulance.

"Fire crews knocked down the flames quickly, however damage to the interior of the house is substantial," PGFR assistant chief Greg Wilkins said in a media release. "There is no estimate of dollar loss at this time."

In all 16 firefighters from three halls were called to the scene.

"Fire investigators will be seeking to determine a fire cause later today," Wilkins said. "However preliminary reports indicate the fire is not suspicious in nature."
