Firefighters were forced to make a hasty retreat Tuesday evening while battling a blaze that ripped through a 3300-block First Avenue home.
At 7 p.m., 17 firefighters from three halls were dispatched to the scene where they found smoke coming from the house's main floor.
"Crews attempted an offensive attack, but fire conditions inside the home forced crews to quickly exit the house," Prince George Fire Rescue assistant chief Denis Poulin said.
The fire rapidly spread through the home, which was in the early stages of being renovated, reaping an estimated $250,000 damage.
No one was home at the time and no firefighters were injured.
