There was a fire in a basement suite in the 1700 block of Tamarack St. that 15 firefighters and three fire halls responded to shortly before midnight Tuesday.
The lone tenant of the basement suite was already outside with an RCMP member when firefighters arrived.
The occupant was transported to hospital and condition is unknown at this time.
Crews found thick black smoke in the suite and quickly extinguished the fire, keeping the smoke, water and minor fire damage to the suite. There was no damage done to the structure.
Damage is estimated at $10,000.
There were no other injuries and cause is under investigation.
