The North District RCMP major crimes unit is investigating the death of a 28-year-old woman, after her body was found inside a home just outside city limits that was the scene of a fire late Monday morning.
The woman's death is suspicious, RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said in a statement issued Tuesday afternoon, and an investigation has been launched to determine if it was criminal in nature.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops and the B.C. Coroners Service and the Office of the Fire Commissioner are also involved in the investigation.
The woman was found inside a bedroom after the Beaverly Volunteer Fire Department and B.C. Ambulance Service were called to the 6100 block Dave Road home, off Blackwater Road southwest of the city, shortly after 11 a.m. on Monday.
The victim's was not released Tuesday.
