Firefighters were called to a house fire in the 5100 block of Nechako Road at approximately 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
When fire crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the house. Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly and limited the damage to about $5,000.
One person was home at the time of the fire. He had been trying to thaw a frozen water line with a propane torch at the time of the fire.
No one was injured in the blaze.
