Raising close to $25,000, the 10th and final Evening of Pink was held last Saturday at the Prince George Civic Centre.

Guest speaker Dr. Robert Olson, the first doctor hired at the BC Cancer Agency Centre for the North, spoke about how much cancer treatment has progressed over the last decade.

Close to 400 guests enjoyed dinner and a dance after contributing almost $25,000 to purchase equipment that will assist in detection, prevention and treatment of breast cancer.

Past equipment purchased include the Sentinel Probe, Faxitron Specimen X-Ray Unit, equipment for new cancer clinic, the Endoscopic Ultrasound and last year the Aplio High End Ultrasound Unit.

The Evening of Pink has raised more than $180,000 over the last 10 years.

"We applaud (organizer) Monica (Peacock) and her team's dedication to this event," said Judy Neiser, CEO for Spirit of the North. "The funds received through this event really have made a difference in bringing the best of care closer to home in the North."
