Elections BC released its final, official election results for the 2020 provincial election on Monday.
In Prince George-Mackenzie, incumbent MLA Mike Morris was returned for another term with 8,543 votes (50.8 per cent).
NDP candidate Joan Atkinson received 5,717 votes (33.99 per cent), Green Party candidate Catherine Kendall got 1,935 votes (11.51 per cent), and Christian Heritage Party candidate Dee Kranz and Libertarian Raymond Rodgers took 336 and 287 votes, respectively.
In Prince George-Valemount, long-time MLA Shirley Bond cruised to another term in office with 9,703 votes (55.62 per cent).
NDP candidate Laura Parent received 4,717 votes (27.04 per cent), Green Party candidate Mackenzie Kerr received 2,597 votes (14.89 per cent) and Libertarian Sean Robson got 428 votes (2.45 per cent).
Both Morris and Bond had clear leads on election night, and were declared the winners.
The NDP won a clear majority, winning 57 of 87 seats – up from 41 in the 2017 election. The Liberal Party won 28 seats (down from 43 seats in 2017) and the Green Party won two seats (down from three seats in 2017).
A judicial recount has been ordered for the riding of West Vancouver-Sea to Sky, where Liberal candidate Jordan Sturdy had a 41-vote lead over Green candidate Jeremy Valeriotte. A judicial recount is automatically triggered if the difference between the winning candidate and their next closest competitor is less than 0.2 per cent of the total vote in the riding.
