Funds raised to go to campaign for regional cardiac care centre

A final number will be out next week but organizers of the Festival of Trees say they are pleased with support the event received this year.

A key fundraiser for the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, it was put on hold last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

SNHF spokesperson Aimee Cassie said a specific goal for money to be raised was not set but added they are pleased with the support it has drawn.

Money raised through this year's version will go toward establishing a regional cardiac care centre for northern B.C.

Northern Health is the only health authority in the province that does not have its own interventional cardiology service, according to SNHF.

Donations are still being accepted in the office and online, and fundraising is still available through the Michael’s Jewellers Diamond draw.  Tickets are $20, with a chance at winning a custom ring and can be purchased online at festivaloftreesdiamonddraw.rafflenexus.com.
