Leading B.C. Conservative MP Stockwell Day, who is president of the Treasury Board, would only comment cautiously Wednesday on the anti-HST campaign in British Columbia.

Day, who spoke to the Prince George Chamber of Commerce at a luncheon, stressed it was a provincial issue.

"It was the provincial government that made a decision to go with the HST. Other provinces have done that. When a province decides that they want harmonize their sales tax, there is legislation and a mechanism that kicks in at the federal level," he said in an interview with reporters following his speech to the Prince George chamber.
