Bowl-area households may experience discoloured water or low water pressure over the next few days while city workers complete repairs on a water line after a leak was discovered Monday near a city well at Wilson Park.

A water pump was shut down to stop the leak - creating some flooding in the park - and the cause was determined to be a faulty gasket.

"Tap water remains safe to drink, but may be cloudy or discoloured," the city said. "Residents are advised to run their water until its clear to avoid drinking discoloured water and before doing laundry."

A temporary bypass pump has been set up to ensure Prince George Fire Rescue has enough water to meet firefighting needs.

The work should be completed by Thursday.
