One man is dead and another affected after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 16 just west of Fraser Lake.
The deceased is a 32-year-old Fraser Lake resident who was driving a westbound Honda Civic. According to police, he crossed the centre line into the path of an oncoming GMC pickup. The two collided head-on on the Stellaquo Overpass.
The driver of the pickup was not injured. They were the only occupants of their respective vehicles.
Police say alcohol is considered a factor in this highway death.
The highway was closed in both directions as of about 8:20 p.m. Thursday when emergency responders were called to the scene. A detour was established around that part of the highway and DriveBC was reporting no continuation of the incident as of 6 a.m. Friday.
Police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed this crash, or have information that may aid in the investigation to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-TIPS).
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
