Two people were arrested Thursday evening following a confrontation in the Hart that allegedly involved an imitation firearm, Prince George RCMP said.
Just after 6 p.m., police were called to a report of an assault in a parking lot in the 2200 block of Highway 97 North, in which a firearm was reported to have been seen.
It's believed two people were sideswiped while driving in the area before the incident carried over into the parking lot where a woman was allegedly assaulted, police said.
The two suspects – a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman – had fled by the time police arrived, but about 45 minutes later, they were located in a vehicle on Foothills Boulevard near Highland Drive and arrested without incident.
"A realistic looking Airsoft rifle was located in the vehicle and seized as evidence," RCMP said.
The two were held in custody overnight to appear in court on Friday.
All of those involved in the incident are known to each other.
