The local branch of the Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA) is hosting a free Live Well with Diabetes event Saturday from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Esther's Inn.
Information on relevant topics like heart health, diabetes management, foot care, risk factors and healthy lifestyle choices will be provided.
People with diabetes, those at risk and caregivers are welcome to attend.
"When it comes to diabetes, knowledge is the best management," said Boyanne Young, branch coordinator for northern B.C. "The CDA hopes to empower residents in Prince George to better self-manage their diabetes by providing the necessary tools and resources. Understanding diabetes is critical to effective self-management and healthy outcomes and we encourage the public to join us at this free educational event."

10:30 a.m. - Dr. Wendy A. Leong, specialist in cardiology and diabetes
1:00 p.m. - Shaline Edge, foot care specialist
All day: Are you at risk? Check your risk factors for type 2 diabetes.
There will be a trade show of products and services geared for those with diabetes. Booths include businesses and organizations like Timberline Footfitters, Pharmasave, and the Kidney Foundation.
