A Hazelton-area man who escaped police after he was taken to the community's hospital is back in custody and faces additional charges.
Charges of escaping lawful custody, theft of a motor vehicle and assault with a weapon have been approved against Buddy Douglas Shanoss, according to court records.
The counts stem from an alleged December 5 incident in which, according to RCMP, Shanoss had been taken to hospital for treatment only to get away from police and take off in a stolen vehicle.
Court records indicate Shanoss was apprehended a day or two later - he appeared in Williams Lake Provincial Court on Dec. 7 on the latest round of charges.
As of Monday, he remained in custody on those counts as well as on the ones for he was originally arrested.
