RCMP are on the lookout for a Hazelton-area man who escaped police custody after he was taken to the community's hospital on Monday.
Buddy Douglas Shanoss is described as 30 years old, 183 cm (6’) tall and weighing 86 kg (190 lbs) with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes.
Police said Shanoss stole a silver 2015 Kia Sportage with B.C. licence plate KP633C after he was taken to hospital for treatment.
He was in custody on counts of driving while disqualified under the Criminal Code, dangerous driving, fleeing police, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, uttering threats and possessing a firearm contrary to an order from an alleged December 1 incident in the community 445 kilometres west of Prince George.
Police said Shanoss is considered violent and should not be approached. Instead, anyone who sees him is urged to call 911 immediately.
