It was another successful car wash for the RCMP who partnered along with the B.C. Sheriffs Service and Prince George Fire Rescue got their suds soaking in an effort to raise funds for Special Olympics B.C. on May 20.

Proceeds of the event went towards the upcoming third annual Law Enforcement Torch Run which will be held on June 6 at the RCMP Prince George Detachment.

The run supports all B.C. Special Olympian athletes in Prince George.

"This is such a great cause. All of these athletes put their heart into their respective sports and we are happy to help them have that opportunity," said Craig Douglass, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP.

From start to finish, there was a steady stream of about 50 vehicles waiting for their turn at the Canadian Tire Parking lot.

Donations added up to approximately $1,600.

"A big thank you to all those who donated to this worthwhile cause. The generosity was overwhelming," Douglass said.

"We also want to thank the management and staff of Canadian Tire for donating supplies and their parking lot to this event and to Boston Pizza for surprising us with lunch."

The Law Enforcement Torch Run supports 4,600 from 57 communities from across the province and has raised over $3 million in British Columbia since 1990. The RCMP continue to support two charities each year, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics BC and Cops for Cancer supporting the Canadian Cancer Society.
