Education Minister George Abbott defended Wednesday a data collection system that has drawn criticism from teachers across the province although he admitted it hasn't been perfect.

Used primarily to track students' attendance and marks, the British Columbia enterprise Student Information System (BCeSIS), teachers have described it as slow and cumbersome and prone to freezing when under heavy use.
