Cool conditions Sunday means the Eagle Bluff wildfire at Gallagher Lake saw no growth overnight.

The 2,632-hectare blaze, however, remain classified as out-of-control and is still actively burning on top of the mountains, with any growth now east and northeast.

The B.C. Wildfire Service says planned ignitions or increases in fire activity could produce more smoke Monday.

Heavy equipment worked Sunday to construct guard in operable areas, while crews secured line from the planned ignition that occurred at McKinney Road towards the north and established hoselay.

Crews are preparing for another planned ignition on the northern flank of the blaze “in the coming days.”

As the fire is no longer a threat to any structures, all evacuation alerts issued by the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen and Osoyoos Indian Band have been lifted.

“Structural protection units and fire department resources were demobilizing off the fire yesterday due to decreased risk in the area,” BCWS said online. “Due to the movement of the fire away from the community and the reduced threat to structures or properties in the area, these resources are no longer required. If the situation were to change, these resources could be called back at any time.”

One-hundred-sixty firefighters remain assigned to the wildfire, supported by 14 helicopters and 19 pieces of heavy equipment.
