A dust advisory ended Tuesday afternoon after the Ministry of Environment issued the road dust advisory for Prince George.
That means the city will not launch its Free Fare for Clean Air program, which offers free transit when the Prince George is under air advisory.
The Ministry issued the morning alert because "high concentrations of coarse particulate matter that are expected to persist until there is precipitation or the streets are cleared of winter traction material," the Ministry said in a statement issued at 9:45 a.m. today.
"Levels tend to be highest around busy roads and industrial operations."
People with chronic underlying medical conditions are urged postpone strenuous exercise near busy roads until the advisory is lifted.
"Exposure is particularly a concern for infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes, and lung or heart disease," the ministry said.
