A drunken ride on a stolen snowmobile through the Hart that ended in a collision with a parked logging truck has cost a Prince George man $6,000 in fines and restitution and the loss of his driving privileges for a year.

Kenneth Jacob Kemp, 21, was issued the penalties in Prince George provincial court on July 25 for a March 3 incident, where an RCMP officer saw a snowmobiler speeding along an alley behind the Hart Centre Mall.

When the rider saw police, he tried to flee but hit the logging truck parked on a nearby residential property.

Kemp blew twice the legal limit on both samples when he was taken into the Prince George RCMP detachment and the snowmobile was found to have been stolen from a rural residence on Jan. 2.

He pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property under $5,000 and driving with a blood-alcohol level over .08 and was fined $2,000, ordered to pay $4,000 restitution and was prohibited from driving for one year.
