A Prince George man has been sentenced to 180 days in jail and issued a 10-year driving prohibition for counts of driving while impaired under the Criminal Code and driving while disqualified under the Motor Vehicle Act.

James Dean Albert, 45, was issued the terms Wednesday in Prince George provincial court on the counts, both from an April 2012 incident.

Albert has a history of similar offences.

He was arrested in Chilliwack in May 2006 for driving with a blood-alcohol level over .08 and in July 2006 for driving while disqualified under the Motor Vehicle Act.

In November 2007, he was sentenced to six months in jail and 18 months probation and issued a three-year driving prohibition on those charges.

Then, in the span of three days in July 2008, he was arrested on drunk driving charges in Penticton, according to court records.

He was subsequently sentenced in May 2010 to a two-year conditional sentence, where the term is served at home, and two years probation and issued a five-year driving prohibition as well as to 60 days for breach of probation.
