Oddly enough, the throw-a-pie-at-the teacher's-face was not the biggest moneymaker for business students at D.P. Todd secondary school in their lunch hour market last week.
That despite the fact they rounded up a math teacher to take aim at with their pies.
The mini-business ventures thought up by the Anne Saar's business communication class of students in Grades 9 and 10 raised close to $350 to replace pets killed in the Highglen Montessori elementary school fire on April 22.
Saar and D.P. Todd math/phys-ed teacher James Kondratuk volunteered for pie duty.
"I got hit a couple times but the other teacher was more popular for pie-in-the-face than me," said Saar.
The students also sold milkshakes, cupcakes and freezees and held a jelly bean raffle.
"The freezees brought in the most money," said Saar. "Timing is everything in business and they did the pie-in-the-face on the same day as the senior prom, so all the Grade 12s were gone that day. The fact almost all of them made money is pretty positive."
Highglen principal Karin Paterson accepted the cheque on behalf of her students Tuesday morning.
