Homespun Refillery at the corner of Fourth and Dominion has been offering a zero-waste concept in the heart of downtown Prince George for a year.

Homespun Refillery offers the option of low waste, sustainable and eco conscious products.

Kyla Wilhelmsen is the owner and said in her household they have not purchased a single-use plastic container in three years and the store supports those that wish to lessen their footprint on the Earth.

“I have been very well received by the community,” Wilhelmsen said. “Despite downtown issues, I love the location and especially in the summer with the Farmers’ Markets open the trickle effect of the community support of the downtown businesses has been really fantastic.”

Wilhelmsen said from the feedback that she’s been getting from customers people are really liking the variety of products available.

“There’s a good selection of eco responsible products,” she added. “We’ve got everything from dish soap, hand soap, all the common stuff right to eco-friendly toothpaste that’s refillable and hair spray and hair gels, so all of your essentials can be found in our little space.”

Along with the shampoo, conditioner, lotions, oils, shaving cream, a full makeup line and hand sanitizer comes laundry soap and toilet tabs, too.

“The laundry powder is phenomenal and made right here in Prince George,” Wilhelmsen said about Simply Cleaning Essentials products.

And so many items that are zero waste, so they are not made with plastics.

“So we have wooden brushes and bamboo toothbrushes and q-tips, plant-based cloths and plastic-free sponges,” Wilhelmsen. “So it’s eco responsible in its ingredients and its packaging.”
