More than 50 people will find a warning letter in the mail after five Citizens on Patrol volunteers kept an eye out for distracted drivers on Sunday.
The letters will be sent out to drivers found using an electronic device while behind the wheel or failing to wear their seatbelts. It could have been worse - if caught by RCMP, they would have been issued tickets with heavy fines.
February is distracted driving month and programs like cell watch are happening all over the province to try and educate drivers about good driving habits. Drivers are 23 times more likely to crash while texting and driving, according to the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia.
In all, the volunteers observed 2,750 vehicles.
