If people think they've missed the deadline to nominate that special someone who has contributed so much to their community - think again.

The deadline to nominate resident for the Commemorative Medal for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee is now Wednesday.

Local MLAs Pat Bell and Shirley Bond have six medals to give out between them. Two medals will go to residents living in Prince George, one to someone in Robson Valley and one to a Mackenzie resident. The two left are given out based on the MLAs' own judgment.

A panel of five people will decide who is most deserving. Bell and Bond will not sit on the panel.

Recommendations are sent to Victoria and medal winners are announced later this year.

Completed nomination forms can be dropped off at either MLA's office. Bond's office is at 1350 5th Ave. and Bell's office is at 103-770 East Central St.
