The deadline is nearing for nominations for the B.C. Community Achievement Awards.

If you know of someone worthy of the award, given to people who have made a significant contribution to their community through a unique achievement or outstanding service in any area that provides a benefit to the community, get your nomination in by Dec. 1.

A nomination form can be found at www.bcachievement.com, and must be submitted along with a letter describing the contributions of the nominee, a brief personal history of the nominee and two letters of support.

Winners of the 2010 awards, presented in April, included Bert Kelly of Prince George, Melinda Cheung of Fort St. James, Jeannette Townsend of Valemount, Audrey MacLise of Williams Lake, Robert (Lynn) Shervill of Smithers, Jane Dickson of Terrace, Braunwyn Henwood of New Hazelton, Alan Boyd of Lone Butte and Kris Olsen of Haida Gwaii.
