RCMP are urging daycare centres and parents to be on the alert after a woman allegedly tried to pick up a child under false pretenses.
Police said the woman was turned away without incident when she was unable to provide identification and the child's parent later confirmed no one else was authorized to pick up the child.
The suspect is described as a short, slender Caucasian with blonde hair.
The incident occurred on Friday evening. The daycare's location was not provided.
"Investigators believe that this was a targeted incident, but wish to warn all parents and daycare providers as a precaution," RCMP said. "The investigation is continuing."
