Walmart arsonist Nathan Colin Whynot pleaded guilty in Dawson Creek court Wednesday, and this time the plea was accepted by the court.
It was the second time around for Whynot, who attempted to plead guilty last year after he was caught on video surveillance committing a $1.38-million dollar arson in the Dawson Creek Walmart.
He attempted to plead guilty in October 2020, while firing his lawyer. At the time, Hon. David St. Pierre struck the original guilty plea from the record, noting Whynot showed little remorse and no responsibility for the crime, attempting to expedite the court proceedings.
Hon. Richard Blaskovits was the presiding judge and accepted the guilty plea, but noted sentencing will be set for a later date.
A psychiatric report has also been ordered for Whynot, who appeared by video to reaffirm pleas to the charges.
No date has been set for sentencing.
